Part of me misses the auditors in the kitchen.

Part of me misses the auditors in the kitchen.

For about a month they camped out there in the conference rooms attached to the kitchens with their laptops, bags of Oreos, and mountains of paperwork. I never really spoke to them much, but they were always there, late into the night, even on weekends, looking harried.

The fridge had more spoiled food in it. The garbage overflowed. I think they ate Julie’s lunch one day. And yet, I miss them a little.

In 1789, the governor of Australia granted land and some animals to James Ruse in an experiment to see how long it would take him to support himself. Within 15 months he had become self sufficient. The area is still known as Experiment Farm. This is my Experiment Farm to see how long it will take me to support myself by writing.
