The World is Not Ending


I couldn't help myself. I read Boing Boing today anyway while I was on lunch, and it made me laugh.

In an article about how the Large Hadron Collider at CERN will not destroy the world as many fear, one physicist says: "Look, it's a 10^-19 chance, and you've got a 10^-11 chance of suddenly evaporating while shaving."

In 1789, the governor of Australia granted land and some animals to James Ruse in an experiment to see how long it would take him to support himself. Within 15 months he had become self sufficient.
