Halloween Stories

Every year for the last few years I've written a short story on Halloween and posted it to my Tribe blog. Two of them are actually posted here in Experiment Farm in the Short Fiction Section. For some reason I never posted last year's there, but I'll get to it.

I usually write them on Halloween and they're often fairly rough, given how quickly they're written. I started writing this year's a week ago, because I knew I'd be busy this week and not have time to write an entire one on Halloween. Even so, it's not finished yet, partially because I suspect the story wants to be longer than a short story. Perhaps I will expand it later into it's full form.

In the meantime, I will post the first part of it, and continue to post it's parts throughout the weekend until it's finished. As Diana pointed out, with Halloween on a Friday and then the Day of the Dead and All Saints Day, this is an entire weekend to be festive and scary! I hope you enjoy it.

In 1789, the governor of Australia granted land and some animals to James Ruse in an experiment to see how long it would take him to support himself. Within 15 months he had become self sufficient. The area is still known as Experiment Farm. This is my Experiment Farm to see how long it will take me to support myself by writing.
