It's the 90th anniversary of the armistice that ended World War I. In fact, it was known as "Armistice Day" until 1954 when it was officially changed so as to honor all veterans.
My grandfather was a WWI vet. Though as I remember correctly, he never saw combat. He was an airplane mechanic.

My other grandfather is a WWII vet. He was in the Army Air Corp, which would later become the Air Force. Honestly, I actually have no idea what he actually did during the war.
My uncle was also a WWII vet. As I recall, he drove ambulances on a military base in Florida.

My dad is a Vietnam War vet. Although, he never actually set foot in Vietnam. He did shell it from off shore aboard the destroyer USS Perry, which, if my internet research is correct, is pictured below.

All this just serves to explain how I came to exist.
