Out of Touch Unions Strike Again (or Almost)

After every other union in the BART system overwhelmingly approved the recent labor agreement, the union representing the drivers and station agents rejected it. Do they not realize there's a recession going on? Do they not realize everyone else is cutting back or getting laid off? Do they not comprehend the meaning of a $310 million operating deficit?

I have to doubt the general public will have much sympathy for station agents, who make $63,000 a year (plus an average of $44,000 a year worth of benefits) to sit on their ass and be surly and unhelpful.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: "If unions can’t open up their eyes and take in the bigger picture of the world around them, they’re going to eat themselves alive".

I hope they all get fired and have to fend for themselves in the real job market.

In 1789, the governor of Australia granted land and some animals to James Ruse in an experiment to see how long it would take him to support himself. Within 15 months he had become self sufficient. The area is still known as Experiment Farm. This is my Experiment Farm to see how long it will take me to support myself by writing.
