Slow Day

Today, the day after the All-Star Game, is traditionally the slowest day in North American sports. There are no major events today. No baseball games. No football, hockey, or basketball. Not even golf. If you're really desperate, and the World Cup didn't satisfy your soccer jones, the Kansas City Wizards play the Columbus Crew in MLS action today. I expect to see a lot of highlights from the game tonight on Sportscenter.

If I were the MLS, I would schedule a marquee match-up for this day every year and try to get a national TV deal.

In 1789, the governor of Australia granted land and some animals to James Ruse in an experiment to see how long it would take him to support himself. Within 15 months he had become self sufficient. The area is still known as Experiment Farm. This is my Experiment Farm to see how long it will take me to support myself by writing.
