Happy Birthday Mr. Bond

Today is the 50th Anniversary of the release of Dr. No. Over on the James Bond Twitter feed they're giving away lots of prizes today. I noticed a bit too late to make a play for the Blu-Ray box set they gave away an hour ago. D'oh.

If I get my act together I'll try to get my Moonraker review posted today.

In the meantime, here's the theme for the new movie, Skyfall, performed and co-written by Adele:

I like it so far. We'll see if it grows on me. Earlier in production, rumors were that Duran Duran was going to come back to do the theme. They of course did the theme to A View to a Kill, the only Bond theme to-date to hit #1 on the charts. Given how popular Adele is these days, it doesn't surprise me they went with her.

And here's a preview of the film:

It looks so good! And there's a Q, who looks perfect for the part, I might add. It's sort of how you imagine Desmond Llewelyn would have looked at that age if he were that age today.

In 1789, the governor of Australia granted land and some animals to James Ruse in an experiment to see how long it would take him to support himself. Within 15 months he had become self sufficient. The area is still known as Experiment Farm. This is my Experiment Farm to see how long it will take me to support myself by writing.
